Utila

Utila, Honduras otherwise known as a little piece of heaven. We got here after three planes, a taxi, and a ferry. Utila is a little island, just 7 miles long and 3 wide and two paved streets one running along the bay and one running perpendicular to the air port. You might think that since it has an airport it is quite a developed place, but when I say airport I mean tarmac. There is no air control tower, no lights, just a runway. Most people come by the ferry. Before they start out they hand out plastic bags to all the passengers in case they get sea sick on the hour voyage. Perhaps that should have been enough fore warning that the trip would be rough- we were lurching the whole time. The Island is more caribbean than Honduran, every one speaks english with an accent, so not english at all. We are staying on the bay in a little inn, it has a few hammocks and a dock. All for just $25 dollars a night, the sunsets on the water alone are worth it. Nearly every day we have been getting up at 6:30 and going Scuba diving in the morning. The reef is beautiful. Unfortunately I got a little cold before leaving Princeton and I still haven't quite kicked it, and diving isn't exactly the thing to do when your sinuses aren't clear. So as of yesterday I've decided to stop and just enjoy the land. Tyler is hoping to go on one last dive tonight. One day we rented bikes and explored the unpaved regions of the island. It is beautiful. We happened on to many little secluded shore lines. There is so much more to write, but for now I'll end by saying we are having a great time and I am sad to be leaving in two days.
Happy Travels all,
With much love,
Sierra
